The predecessor of Hunan Foreign Language Vocational College was Liuyang Foreign Language School, which was established in —. It was renamed Liuyang Foreign Language College in —. In —, the school was upgraded to a regular higher vocational school and renamed Hunan Foreign Languages Vocational College.
