Chongqing Vocational College of Light Industry is a full-time general higher vocational college approved by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government in March — and registered by the Ministry of Education. The college is located in the core area of the National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone, China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone - Chongqing High-tech Zone Science City, adjacent to Chongqing University Town, Xiyong Microelectronics Park and Xilu Industrial Park.
The history of the school can be traced back to Chongqing Xingzhi Technical School, which was founded in —. On May 9, —, with the approval of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government and the filing of the Ministry of Education, Chongqing Light Industry Vocational College was established. Later, it was approved as a pilot institution of the "1X Certificate System" by the Ministry of Education. In February —, Chongqing Light Industry Vocational College Chinasoft International Industry College was officially inaugurated. In the same year, the school passed the approval of the Ministry of Education to establish a new state-controlled major in higher vocational colleges. In June —, the school became a member of the "Belt and Road" and the BRICS International Alliance for Skills Development. On November 20, —, the signing and unveiling ceremony of Chongqing Light Industry Vocational College jointly built a maternal and child care industry college was held.
