Beijing Normal University (BNU) is a key university directly under the Administration of the Ministry of Education. The predecessor of the university was the Peking Normal University Normal School, which was founded in —. In —, it was renamed the Excellent Normal School of The Beijing Normal University. In —, it was renamed Beijing Higher Normal School. — It was renamed Beijing Normal University, the first normal university in Chinese history. — and — Beiping Women's Normal University and Furen University were merged into Beijing Normal University.
