Henan Geology Mineral College is located in Zhengzhou, the political, economic and cultural center of Henan Province, an important mineral resource-rich province. Nestled at the eastern foot of the Songshan Mountain and beside the Yellow River, it sits in the hinterland of Central China. It is a public full-time higher vocational college sponsored by the People’s Government of Henan Province and directly administered by the Henan Provincial Department of Education. Founded in —, the college boasts a 70-year history and has undergone successive evolutions from Zhengzhou Geological School to Zhengzhou Industrial and Trade School. In —, the college was transferred from the Ministry of Land and Resources to the administration of the Henan Provincial Department of Education. In May —, the establishment of Henan Geology Mineral College was approved by the Ministry of Education.
With a long history and profound social influence, the college has cultivated nearly — outstanding talents for land and resources industries at home and abroad. It has nurtured a large number of decision-making administrators and leaders of major land and resources enterprises, including Wang Min (graduate of Class —), former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land and Resources, and Yang Fuping (graduate of Class —), Member of the Standing Committee of the Zhengzhou Municipal Party Committee and Director of the United Front Work Department. The college has formed the school ethos and motto: "Uphold Virtue, Master Profession, Diligence and Innovation". Li Changchun, former Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Central Steering Committee for Spiritual Civilization Construction, inscribed words of encouragement to the college: "Science and technology revitalize Henan; education is the foundation". Song Ruixiang, former Minister of the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources, visited the college and wrote the inscription: "Impart knowledge and cultivate people". Jiang Duyun, former Director of the Henan Provincial Department of Education, encouraged the college to "develop distinctive features and strive for first-class standards". Through unremitting efforts of faculty and students over the years, Henan Geology Mineral College has grown into a high-level vocational college featuring strong teaching faculty, advanced educational philosophy, fruitful scientific and technological achievements, in-depth integration of industry and education, widespread public recognition and distinctive industrial characteristics.
The college enjoys favorable school-running conditions and a competent teaching team. Situated in Zhengdong New District with superior geographical location and promising development prospects, it is adjacent to the Zhengzhou New District Exit of the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway and Zhengzhou Xianghu Ecological Wetland Park. It covers a total area of nearly 400 mu with a building area of — square meters. The total fixed assets are valued at 699.— million yuan, among which fixed assets of teaching instruments and equipment reach 70.— million yuan, and the library holds — volumes of books. The college has built 189 practice and training rooms of various types covering a training area of — square meters. A field practice base capable of accommodating — people for study and living has been established at Dengfeng World Geopark.
The college has built a dual-qualified teaching team featuring noble ethics, reasonable structure, excellent quality and a combination of full-time and part-time teachers. Currently, it has 352 full-time teachers, including 81 teachers with associate professor and above titles, 235 teachers with master’s degree or higher, 2 provincial vocational education experts, 16 academic and technical leaders designated by the Henan Provincial Department of Education, 3 Outstanding Teachers of Henan Province, and 7 Outstanding Education Administrators recognized by the Henan Provincial Department of Education. There are 205 teachers with dual-qualified credentials holding professional qualifications such as National Registered Geotechnical Engineer, Registered Constructor and Registered Cost Engineer. Recruiting students nationwide, the college has nearly — full-time vocational students.

The college consists of 9 teaching units: School of Geology and Mineral Engineering, School of Surveying and Mapping Engineering, School of Information Engineering, School of Intelligent Manufacturing, School of Digital Finance and Business, School of Architecture and Art Design, School of Marxism, Public Courses Teaching Department and Physical Education Department. It offers 32 majors including Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology, Geological Survey and Mineral Survey, Gemstone Identification and Processing, Engineering Surveying Technology, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Technology, UAV Surveying and Mapping Technology, Computer Application Technology, Digital Media Technology, Information Security Technology, Industrial Robot Technology, Intelligent Electromechanical Technology, New Energy Vehicle Technology, UAV Application Technology, Big Data and Accounting, Cross-border E-commerce, Hotel Management and Digital Operation, Architectural Engineering Technology, Environmental Art Design and Music Performance. Dominated by geology and mineral-related majors, the college coordinates the development of majors in intelligent manufacturing, surveying and mapping, electronic information, economics and management. The major layout covers multiple industries including land and resources, geology and mineral resources, urban and rural construction, transportation, water conservancy and hydropower, information technology and automobile manufacturing, featuring clear school positioning and outstanding industrial characteristics.
The college has built 2 provincial-level training bases, 1 provincial-level demonstration virtual simulation training base and 1 provincial-level professional teaching resource library. It owns 2 provincial first-class core courses, 2 provincial curriculum ideology and politics demonstration courses, 1 provincial research and demonstration center for curriculum ideology and politics, and 1 provincial backbone major. In the past five years, it has won 1 national education and teaching award, 1 provincial special prize and more than 30 provincial first prizes. The graduate employment rate remains above 95%, and graduates’ competitiveness in the job market keeps improving year by year.
Boasting fruitful scientific and technological achievements, the college promotes in-depth integration of industry and education. Following the working guideline of "Prioritize Key Fields, Encourage Innovation, Emphasize Application, Promote Achievement Transformation and Serve Society", the college has applied for more than 500 vertical scientific research projects at all levels in the past five years, including 8 provincial and ministerial projects. Faculty members have compiled and participated in compiling over 105 textbooks, published more than 900 journal papers (including 13 papers indexed by SCI), and obtained 329 authorized patents. The college has won 2 First Prizes of Outstanding Achievements in Provincial Educational Science Research, 2 Second Prizes of Provincial Higher Education Digital Transformation Achievement Recognition, 2 Second Prizes of Outstanding Provincial Educational Informatization Achievements, and 2 Third Prizes of Outstanding Provincial University Humanities and Social Science Achievements. The college runs 25 pilot programs for the "1+X" Certificate System and holds qualifications for 18 vocational skill level assessments. Students can receive multiple vocational skill training on campus and obtain various certificates upon graduation. It has set up teaching sites of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and Beijing Institute of Technology within the college, carries out junior college continuing education programs, undertakes various social training for industrial enterprises, and builds a learning platform for continuing education.
