Founded in —, Tianjin Agricultural University merged with Urban and Rural Economy College of Tianjin,and was approved by Tianjin Municipal Government in —. The university has the authority to grant bachelor’s degree since — and master’s degree since —. After passing the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) undergraduate evaluation in —, the university received a further outstanding assessment from MOE in —.
The university takes agriculture as the main subject, and develops engineering, management, science, economics, literature and art in a coordinated way. After years of running practice, it has formed a distinctive running characteristics closely following regional economic and social development and serving modern urban agriculture.
The university has three campuses, with the campus covering an area of — mu(about 86.1 hectares) and a build-up area of — square meterswith modern buildings, laboratories, libraries, network center and sports stadiums. There are currently — students in the university.

The university actively adapts to the needs of regional economic and social development and modern urban agriculture development, rationally adjusts the curriculum system, and gradually forms a more reasonable professional ecological group that supports the development of modern agriculture. In the context of popular education, the university roots in the Jingu soil, and focuses on combining production and research. In recent years, employment rate of graduates has reached 90%, a leading level among similar institutes. In addition, the university also has 94 industry-university-research consortium, and with 11 companies jointly established Tianjin key laboratory of enterprise.
