About the university
Dongguan University of Technology is the first ordinary undergraduate university in Dongguan. It is jointly built by the province and the city. Dr. Yang Zhenning, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics, serves as the honorary president.
The university was opened in —,
It was founded in April — with the approval of the former State Education Commission.
In March —, approved by the Ministry of Education, it was changed into a full-time undergraduate college.
In May —, it was approved as a bachelor's degree awarding unit.
In May —, it passed the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education.
In June —, together with Tsinghua University and other 61 universities, it was approved as one of the first batch of universities to implement the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" by the Ministry of Education.
In September —, it was identified as a high-level science and engineering university construction unit supported by Guangdong Province.
