About the university
Located at the foot of Yuelu Mountain, along the west bank of Xiangjiang River in Changsha, capital of Hunan Province, Hunan University of Finance and Economics(HUFE) is a full-time university featuring economics and management. Developing from Housheng Accounting Institute, which was founded in —, the university was officially named Hunan University of Finance and Economics under the approval of the Ministry of Education of China in March —. Bordering Xihu Cultural Park and Meixi Lake, HUFE enjoys convenient transportation of Fenglin Road No.2, Jinxing Avenue and Changsha Metro Line 2. Surrounded with lush trees and blooming flowers, the university has been rated as a provincial “Garden Institution”, an ideal place for students to study.
HUFE has a total enrollment of over — students now. Covering a land of 760 mu (about 51 hectares), HUFE has set up 15 schools (e.g.School of Accounting, School of Finance, School of Business Administration, School of Information Technology and Management, School of Public Policy and Management, School of Foreign Languages, School of Engineering Management, Housheng School of International Education, School of Mathematics and Statistics, School of Arts, School of Physical Education, School of Political Theories and School of Continuing Education) and 30 undergraduate programs (e.g. accounting, financial management, auditing, public finance, finance, taxation, marketing, human resources management, computer science and technology, information management and system, English, international economy and trade, etc.), among which, accounting, public finance and computer application technology are provincial key construction disciplines and accounting, finance, marketing and financial management are provincial characteristic specialties. HUFE is also well-equipped with teaching facilities, owning 28 computer labs, 157 multimedia classrooms and 9 language labs.
HUFE is devoted to expanding its international exchanges and cooperation. It has already built up joint programs with many universities and colleges in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, South Korea and Thailand, etc. International exchange among teachers and students has been more frequent than ever before. HUFE was authorized to recruit international students by Education Department of Hunan Province in — and launch the first joint undergraduate education program by Ministry of Education in —, thereby setting up Housheng School of International Education (HSIE) which is responsible for joint programs, international students education and other international education programs. At present, HUFE accepts international students for non-degree long-term, short-term and preppy Chinese language programs and also provides degree programs for undergraduates.
