About the university
The School of Law is one of the most dynamic schools of Beijing Normal University. Its predecessor was the Law major established by the Department of Philosophy in —, the Law Department established in —, the Criminal Law Science Research Institute established in —, and the Law School was formally established in —. The current president is Professor Jianping Lu, executive vice Chairman of the China Branch of the International Criminal Law Association, vice president of the China Society of Criminal Law and Vice president of the China Society of Criminology.
Although the School of Law has been established for a short time, it has made remarkable achievements. In the QS University Rankings —, the law program ranked 8th in Mainland China and 21st in Asia. At the same time, it is also one of the first outstanding legal talents education and training bases in China.
The School of Law attaches great importance to the construction of talent team and has a strong and excellent faculty team. As of April —, among the full-time faculty members, there is one special professor of Changjiang Scholars program and three of the "Top Ten Outstanding Young Jurists" in China. At present, there are 40 professors, 36 associate professors and 10 assistant professors, and more than 20% of the teachers have received foreign doctoral degrees.
The School of Law is a first-level discipline doctoral degree awarding unit with a complete range of specialties. It has formed a three-level talent training pattern from undergraduate students, master students to doctoral students, and has a first-level postdoctoral mobile station to train professional talents of all levels. It has 7 teaching and research centers, 15 research centers and 4 criminal law exchange centers.
The School attaches great importance to international exchanges, and has signed cooperation agreements with more than 40 universities and institutions in the United States, Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Australia, Canada and other countries. Among them, there are exchange students and summer programs with more than ten European and American universities, such as university of Oxford, University of Aberdeen, Emory University and University of Toulouse. The school offers a Master of Law program in China, and jointly launches a joint certification program for international E-commerce Law with the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) to recruit and train foreign students, creating a diversified cultural exchange environment for the school.
