Founded in —, University of South China is a state-owned comprehensive university. The university started education for international students in —. In —, the university passed the Higher Education Quality Certification for International Students conducted by the Ministry of Education in P. R. China. The university is shortlisted among the top 100 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for many times.The disciplines of Clinical Medicine, Chemistry, Engineering and Pharmacology & Toxicology of the university are ranked in the top 1% of ESI worldwide.
As one of the first-tier universities on the Mainland, P.R. China, USC covers academic research and education in 9 disciplines, namely, Engineering, Medicine, Management, Sciences, Economics, Philosophy, Law, Literature and Art. USC comprises 25 colleges and schools, 8 affiliated hospitals and 4 teaching hospitals. The university offers 67 bachelor programs, 26 master programs and 5 doctorate programs in first-level disciplines to students from all over the world. It also offers two special training programs --＂Outstanding Engineers＂ and ＂Outstanding Doctors＂-- financed by the Ministry of Education.
