About the university
East China University of Technology (ECUT), originating from Taigu Geological School and was established in —. As a state defense institution and the first college in nuclear industry in China, ECUT has enjoyed a history of over 60 years with fine reputation in research and education. In —, the school moved to Fuzhou and later to Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. Presently ECUT is jointly run by Jiangxi Government and China Atomic Energy Association (CAEA), the Ministry of Natural Resource (MNR), China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC).
Since its establishment, ECUT has focused its education and research in the field of Nuclear Science and Geology Science, with the relevant disciplines developed gradually. Based on the featured disciplines ECUT has developed into the fields of Geological Tourism, Geological Economy, Geological Chemistry, and Geological Environment etc. So far, ECUT has extended its education and research to engineering, science, language, management, economy and arts, among which1 doctoral program, 71 master programs and 72 bachelor programs, forming more than 20 schools and research centers.
Thanks to the persistence in the traditional disciplines, Geology, Chemistry and Electronics are ranked as the provincial top disciplines and funded by the government, leading to a further development of the university.
ECUT aspires to be an internationally recognized, comprehensive university that contributes to the country’s development and the peaceful nuclear utility in the world. Our mission is to develop fundamental science through advanced technologies and to nurture talents and leaders in the field of national and world nuclear and geological industry. The mission of serving local economy through talents and technology remains as a focus cause in the development of our university.
Our research and education is oriented to the innovation of technology and contribution to the country and the world. The university contributes to the advancement of society through research, creative activity and the development and dissemination of new knowledge.
ECUT has 2 campuses located in and Fuzhou of a southern China province, Jiangxi. The main campus is situated in Nanchang, the capital city of the province, with the other campus approximately 100 km southeast of Jiangxi, a small bustling city boasting — years of history famous for a play writer Tang Xianzu who lived 400 years ago and was titled as Eastern Shakespeare. On the campuses visitors can enjoy the ancient and traditional culture including the Linchuan opera, “the Peony Pavilion”. Both campuses are easily accessible by plane, train, bus, or automobile.
ECUT has a team of over — full time staff, including over 200 professors. Three of them are entitled as Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering or the Foreign Academician of Russian Academy of Science and some professors are granted other national or international distinguished titles due to their education or research achievements. Half of the faculty at ECUT possesses doctoral degrees, forming a high qualified teaching and researching team. For these, ECUT has developed several groups of experts carrying out national and international important projects focusing on the frontiers of fields of Geology, Geophysics, Hydrogeology, Chemistry, Material and Electronics etc.
We also have a group of highly qualified foreign teachers and experts from around the world, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Russia, England, Ireland, South Africa, Japan, India and many other countries along the “Belt and Road”, all of whom interact with students and teachers on a daily basis and take part in extracurricular activities.
