About the university

Founded in —, Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine has become a higher school with distinctive ethnic features for undergraduates, in which it develops mainly in field of traditional medicine, secondly in medical science, pharmaceutical science, engineering and business management by integrating education, science, culture, medical service, health preservation, enterprise development as well as international education and cooperation.

Our university started to enrolled undergraduates since —, and the overseas students since —, joint educated doctors and post doctors as well. It is one of the first universities which authorized by Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China to set up programs for postgraduates after the China reform and opening up to the world.

From our teachers and clinical practitioners there are 286 persons are with senior professional title. We have 1 National Reputed TCM Master, 33 National Reputed and Aged TCM Doctors, 19 specialists who obtain special government allowance from State Council of the People's Republic of China, 20 Reputed and Aged TCM Doctors in Guangxi as well as 64 Reputed TCM Doctors in Guangxi.

Our university has 5 disciplines from first class which are authorized to deliver master title, and 44 second disciplines, 25 majors for undergraduates. Right now we have — enrolled full-time students. The overseas students including Hongkong, Macau and Taiwan are more than 200.

In —, our university became the first one in Guangxi which was ranked A class by Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China in the evaluation of education level for undergraduates.

Our university has 2 campuses as Mingxiu adn Xianhu,which are totally —.93mu (740, 361m2). The first phase of our new campus is finished and ready to be used. Our university has 8 affiliated hospitals, in which there are two AAA ranked hospitals offering — Beds for patients. It has a serious of national reputed bases for production, study and scientific research, such as an affiliated medical school, an affiliated pharmaceutical factory, Chongyang Aged Flat, Yuan Zhi Yuan Massage Salon, Hong Zhong Health Club as well as Kang Ti Health Preservation Center.

GXUCM started to enroll foreign students and students from Hongkong, Macau and Taiwan since —, and our international students come mostly from ASEAN countries, Hongkong, Macau as well as Taiwan, which include more than 40 countries and regions. So far, we have educated more than — overseas students from foreign countries and Hongkong, Macau and Taiwan. In the recent years our university used to be ranked the 9th place in scale of International Students comparing to the other TCM colleges and universities, and the 5th place with the universities in Guangxi. About 80 percent of our international students are from ASEAN countries, for example, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore etc., they study in varies majors including Traditional Chinese Medicine, Integrated of Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine, Acupuncture and Tui-Na, Chinese Herbal Medicine and many programs at different academic levels, such as undergraduates and postgraduates programs.

Besides the scholarship offered by university, the People’s government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has established a full scholarship for ASEAN students and a scholarship for outstanding overseas students, in this few years we have more than 10 places for the scholarships each year.
